Welcome to the web page about us! The Jerrabomberra Tennis Club

Jerrabomberra Tennis Club (JTC) commenced in 1997 with the handover of two tennis courts from the Queanbeyan City Council. Funding for the original clubhouse was donated by Jerrabomberra Rotary. The facilities were upgraded a few years later with two more courts, additions to the club house and hit up wall which were officially opened on Sunday, 26 November 2000 by Queanbeyan Mayor Frank Pangallo MBE. Four more synthetic courts have been added and lighting has progressively been upgraded. Since this time we have replaced the original club house with a large modern facility which importantly includes disabled access and facilities. Most recently three Hotshots courts were added to the facility providing our youngest members with early access to the sport of tennis.

The courts are named after Queanbeyan’s international export and champion squash player, Heather McKay AM MBE. Heather now plays competitive tennis on the seniors’ tour and we are proud and honoured to have her name associated with our club.

JTC is affiliated with Tennis ACT and many of its members are actively involved in tennis competition at all levels. We have several teams, mixed, adult and juniors playing in local league competitions. Our seniors have also been representing our club in recent years at annual Masters Games and many regional tournaments around the country.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to provide quality tennis facilities that support playing tennis and enhance the spirit of community.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to maintain and enhance the club facilities, provide access for new and existing players to participate in various forms of tennis and to support community spirit by encouraging families, friends and community members to socialise and form lasting relationships.

We seek to provide a relaxed and friendly environment to the residents of Jerrabomberra and the surrounding Canberra region so you may enjoy the game of tennis for all ages and all levels of play at a quality sporting facility.

Various forms of coaching are available to provide support for all those interested in learning and improving their game. Our coach maintains a particular focus on junior development.
